"On behalf of our family, we would like everyone at the Loretto Cunningham building to know how much you are appreciated. Over the past six years, you have been part of our extended family, taking special care of our mother until her passing. It was not only her medical and comfort care, but also the compassion and love you were there to give her in our absence."
The Loretto Story
Loretto is a comprehensive continuing healthcare organization which provides a variety of services for older adults throughout Central New York. Our non-profit organization was formed in 1926, and to this day we have been the leader in person-first care. Over 7,000 individuals and their families have let Loretto into their lives and become a part of their story. We are the employer of choice for more than 2,400 dedicated employees who care with a holistic approach - body, mind, and spirit.
For nearly 90 years, Loretto's vision has been to transform elder care in Central New York by deinstitutionalizing nursing homes and long-term care services, and replacing them with home-like settings utilizing person-first care. This care model and environment promotes independence and choice, and fosters meaningful relationships between residents, program participants, and their caregivers.
Our comprehensive system of care has 19 specialized programs in Onondaga and Cayuga counties. The entire Loretto organization has a passion for our mission: rooted in a rich heritage of faith and service, working to honor and empower Elders and those who care for them to live with purpose, wholeness, and dignity.
In order to fulfill this mission in the most meaningful way, the Loretto Board of Trustees adopted a statement of values, establishing guiding principles for the organization that include: Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Concern for Elders, Excellence, and Collaboration.
The dedicated Loretto Board of Trustees, who governs the organization, is composed of volunteers from the community who are committed to serving our Elders.
