The Wellness & Fitness Coach is responsible for implementing standards of exercise, wellness, and senior health.  Also designs and implements an all-inclusive wellness program that addresses the components of physical fitness and health related to the geriatric community.

This position is part of the Therapeutic Recreation Department and collaborates to deliver outstanding customer service and develops an engaging wellness program for the members/residents that integrates and meets their interests and needs.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, concentration in Exercise Science or related field
  • CPR Certification required.
  • Group exercise instructor experience required
  • Certifications from ACE, ACSM, AFAA, ASFA, NSCA or other nationally recognized and accredited fitness association preferred
  • Aquatic certification at least 1 year of teaching aquatic classes preferred
  • Three years’ experience as a personal trainer, working with seniors desired
  • Facilitates group exercise sessions in the fitness room, seated exercise, fall prevention classes and aquatic exercise.
  • Available for 1:1 resident consultation on fitness room safety, equipment training.
  • Fitness and wellness program to include, but not limited to, strength training, flexibility and aerobic activities. Responsible for running scheduled group exercise classes as well as providing insight to residents in setting up personal fitness programs to fit the unique needs and goals of all the residents
  • Development and leading of group and individual fitness programs at all levels that will motivate and educate residents (i.e. guest speakers, educational literature, introduction to alternate interventions, etc.).
  • Ensures the highest quality of care by performing responsibilities according to the highest professional standards.
  • Demonstrates excellent internal and external customer service skills such as friendly greeting, making eye contact, listening attentively, responding in a timely manner, showing respect and empathy and acting as a role model for staff and peers.
